Purples, Spartans lead All-SKY Conference selections

Bowling Green led the way with nine first-team selections on the 2024 All-SKY Conference large-school division team announced Wednesday.

Representing the Purples on the first-team defense are defensive linemen Malik Coburn and Ryan Watt, linebacker Montez Trussell and defensive back Grayson Newman.

On offense, first-teamers for the Purples are quarterback Deuce Bailey, offensive linemen Mehki Axson and Parker Fields, wide receiver Trevy Barber and place-kicker Braden Widener.

South Warren quarterback Bryce Button also earned SKY large division first-team honors, along with teammates Cameron Bell (offensive line), Jake Carter (wide receiver), Colton Veltkamp (defensive line) and Kayden York (defensive back).

Warren East garnered large division first-team selections for wide receiver Brayden Lightfoot and quarterback Dane Parsley – listed as an athlete. ‘

Greenwood had three first-team large-division picks – Jackson Freeland (linebacker), Cayden Schwarzkopf (running back) and Griffin Howard (offensive line).

Warren Central landed two players on the large division’s first team in Cayden Hawk (linebacker) and Juelz Hyde (athlete).

Barren County’s Daylon Thomas (running back), Ryan Harrison (offensive line), Jaxson Byrd (tight end), Colton Thomas (defensive line), Brayden Houchens (defensive line) and Tate Spillman (defensive back) also earned first-team honors.

Allen County-Scottsville got large division first-team spots for Jackson Morris (linebacker), Edy Chavez (punter), DeAnte Grainger (specialist) and Chase Ross (running back), while Logan County’s Elijah Sells (defensive back) also made the first team.

In the All-Sky small-school division, Russellville and Glasgow each picked up six first-team selections.

For Russellville, first teamers are T.K. Darden (linebacker), Octavius McKeage (defensive back), Hunter Hallman (quarterback), Miller Bloodworth (offensive line), Sam Edge (offensive line) and Jamarion Gardner (athlete).

Glasgow’s first-team picks are Cameron Bulle (running back), Keavian Massey (offensive line), Jerrick Martin (wide receiver), Max Lee (defensive line), Trace Smith (linebacker) and Kellon Stone (defensive back).

Franklin-Simpson claimed small-school division first-team honors for Colin Anderson (running back), Zeke Eberhart (offensive line), Layne Alford (linebacker) and Brady Delk (defensive back).
