Tops guard McHenry earns another preseason honor

Western Kentucky senior guard Don McHenry has been named to the preseason 2025 Non-Power Conference All-America Third Team, bracketeer.org announced Friday morning.
McHenry is one of 15 athletes to receive the honor.
A native of Milwaukee, McHenry joined the Tops’ roster in 2023-24 and was named as an All-Conference USA First-Team selection after appearing in and starting all 34 games for WKU. McHenry finished as the Hilltoppers’ leading scorer with 15.1 points per game while averaging a team-high 27.8 minutes per outing and finishing as the fourth-leading scorer in CUSA. The Hilltopper guard helped lead WKU to its first-ever CUSA tournament championship and first conference title and NCAA Tournament berth since 2013.
Grand Canyon’s Tyon Grant-Foster was given the nod for 2025 Preseason Player of the Year. WKU will take on Grand Canyon in a matchup in Phoenix on Nov. 9 as a part of the CUSA-WAC Challenge.
Louisiana Tech’s Daniel Batcho was also named to the team. McHenry and the Tops have two matchups with the Bulldogs this season. The two square off in Ruston, Louisiana, on Jan. 23 and in Bowling Green on Feb. 22.
McHenry was also named to Blue Ribbon’s Preseason All-CUSA Team and was named to the Conference USA Preseason All-Conference team.
McHenry and the Hilltoppers open the 2024-25 campaign with head coach Hank Plona entering his first year at the helm on Monday, hosting Wichita State. Tipoff at E.A. Diddle Arena is slated for 7 p.m.
