On Sept. 16, 1963, the Daily News reported that “Western sees largest freshman enrollment.”
About 1,200 freshmen from around the state and from other states moved into the 11 dorms on Western’s campus. The college president predicted that that year’s total enrollment would be double the 2,581 enrollment they had in 1958.
Western continues to grow. There were 3,436 freshmen enrolled in 2023, with a total enrollment of over 16,000 students for that year.
