Western Kentucky’s men’s golf wrapped up their first tournament of the 2024-25 season Tuesday afternoon in the Argent Financial Classic at Squire Creek Country Club in Chaudrant, Louisiana.

The Tops turned in their fourth straight top 10 finish dating back to last season after placing ninth on the leaderboard.

WKU regained some ground in Tuesday’s final round. After slipping to 10th in the second round, the Tops bounced back in the final shooting a 295 as a team.

Stephen Warren led the way for WKU, moving up the board once again to close out the final round of the tourney following a career-best round. Warren was responsible for five of the Tops’ nine birdies in the final round. Warren shot a 5-under 67 after moving up the board 22 spots following the second round. With Tuesday’s round, Warren improved even more and moved up 34 spots to clinch a top-10 finish.

Rafe Blankenship had an impressive showing in his first look at WKU action, tying for 34th after a 7-over par 79. Also getting his first look at WKU action, Trevor Drew tied for 76th after a 4-over 76 final round.

In addition to Warren, the Tops had two other finishers in the top 50. Blankenship tied for 34th after a 7-over 79 final round and Nic Hofman tied for 41st after a 3-over 75 round.

The Tops had nine total birdies in the final round.

WKU’s 880 total score is the best 54-hole score the Tops have posted when they’ve played in the Argent Financial Classic.

The Hilltoppers will travel to West Lafayette, Indiana, to compete in the Purdue Fall Classic. The tourney will take place from Sept. 22-23. Last year, the Tops finished 12th in the tournament.
