Visitors Center plans break a promise

I am writing to voice my strong opposition to the proposed rezoning of land on Ewing Way to facilitate the relocation of the Convention & Visitors Bureau. This plan represents a troubling shift toward increased commercial development in a section of Warren County that has long been protected from such expansion.
When Exit 26 was first opened, there was a clear understanding that the surrounding area would remain free from commercial development. This moratorium was put in place to preserve the character of our community, ensuring that the rural charm and residential tranquility that define this part of Warren County would not be compromised by the pressures of commercial interests.
The proposed rezoning threatens to break this promise. Allowing the Convention & Visitors Bureau to relocate to Ewing Way would set a dangerous precedent, instead of a more suitable locale such as the Corvette Museum for example, opening the door for further commercial encroachment into an area that has been intentionally shielded from such developments. The inevitable increase in traffic, noise and infrastructure demands would not only disrupt the lives of those who live nearby but also erode the very qualities that make our community special.
Moreover, the need for this rezoning has not been adequately demonstrated. There are other locations within the county that are already zoned for commercial use and would be more suitable for such a facility. The rush to rezone this particular area seems short-sighted and dismissive of the long-term impacts on our community.
In conclusion, I urge our local officials to honor the commitments made when Exit 26 was developed and to reject the proposed rezoning of Ewing Way. We must prioritize the preservation of our community’s character and uphold the protections that were put in place to maintain the quality of life in Warren County.
