The Daily News reported on Aug. 19, 1930, that “natural gas will be turned into the Bowling Green distribution mains” on Aug. 20, 1930.
The source of the natural gas would be coming entirely from Metcalfe County until the lines could be built to connect Bowling Green to natural gas fields in Oklahoma, Texas, Indiana and other parts of Kentucky.
“Natural gas will be turned in gradually from the old artificial gas house at the Delafield plant … where a second connection with the pipelines has been established,” it was reported.
