The new office space, which provides aid to veterans, passport services, immigration needs and other federal services, opens after a fire damaged his previous State Office in a commercial building locally known as the “McIntire Building” in downtown Bowling Green in July 2023, leaving his staff members to work remotely for the past year. About a year after a large fire resulted in the destruction of the building that was home to Sen. Rand Paul’s Bowling Green office, the senator’s staff have moved into a new home at 563 Hub Blvd., right off of Lovers Lane.
Speaking at an open house event Thursday attended by numerous area community leaders and local and state elected officials, Paul spoke about the past year and the move to the new space.
“It has been sort of an unsettling year,” Paul told attendees. “Any time you go through a fire … it’s an unsettling thing just to have everything sort of gone.”
Paul’s previous office was located at 1025 and 1029 State St. in what was locally known as the “McIntire Building.”
A July, 2023 blaze destroyed much of the structure, and it was eventually torn down.
Paul told attendees that while the fire itself did not damage his office, the water used to extinguish the blaze caused immense damage.
After working remotely for the past year, Paul’s staff has moved into a suite inside a building housing The Glenview Trust Company and other tenants.
Paul told the Daily News after the open house that the space will allow his team to continue serving his constituents, pointing out aid to veterans as the “biggest aspect” of what they do.
“The (Veterans Administration) has good service in a lot of ways, but sometimes it has a lot of bureaucracy and red tape,” Paul said. “We try to cut through that red tape to get people into the hospital or into the VA clinic if they need it.”
He said his office also aids people “with anything to do with the federal government,” including passport services and immigration needs.
“If somebody has a family member die and they want to bring their grandparents from another country in, we facilitate the immigration and the visitation of family members,” Paul said.
“We want the people of Bowling Green to know there is a place they can come if they’re a veteran who needs help with veteran’s benefits or housing, you name it,” Paul said. “Anything with the federal government, we can help.”
Angela Pace, director of constituent services, said she is looking forward to her fellow staffers being united again after working separately in the months since the fire.
“Just being back under one roof together (and) having a physical location that constituents can come (to) and we can meet face-to-face is really ideal,” Pace said. “That’s probably what we’re most excited about.”
She said the office is fully staffed and those seeking assistance can contact the state office at 270-782-8303, or online at paul.senate.gov.
