Tops pick up commitment from Woodford County guard Boone

Western Kentucky’s men’s basketball team has picked up its first commitment from the Class of 2025 with Woodford County rising senior Armelo Boone announcing his intention to play for the Hilltoppers.
Boone, who announced his commitment last week on social media via his X (formerly Twitter) account, is a 6-foot-3 shooting guard who played last season at Frederick Douglass High School.

The Lexington native averaged team highs of 20.8 points and 6.4 rebounds per game last season for the Broncos, who finished with a 21-13 record overall. In 28 games, Boone connected on 66 of 211 3-pointers (31.3%) and 224 of 465 field goals (48.2%). At the free-throw line, Boone was 68 of 101 (67.3%).
As a sophomore at Frederick Douglass, Boone averaged a team-high 16 points and six rebounds. He scored 10.1 points per game as a freshman.
Boone picked WKU over offers from Murray State, Miami (Ohio), Morehead State, Eastern Kentucky and Hampton.{&end}
