BG East 11-12 all-stars claim District 1 crown

The Bowling Green East 11- and 12-year-old all-stars rolled to a 17-0 win against Logan County in the District 1 Little League Tournament championship Wednesday at Ephram White Park.
Henry Phillips homered, tallied three RBIs and scored three runs in the win.

On the mound, Jake Young and Phillips combined for a one-hit shutout. Young pitched the first three innings and earned the win, allowing just one hit and no walks while striking out six batters. Phillips finished up with a scoreless fourth, striking out the side to secure BG East’s trip to the state tournament starting July 20 with pool play in Corbin.
BG East totaled 10 hits in the win against Logan County. Captain Carr went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs and scored twice, and Easton Crawford was 2-for-3 with a double and scored a pair of runs.
Brady Boyd and Asa Buchanan tallied two RBIs apiece for BG East, Dylan White drove in a run and scored twice, and Pipes Gaines and Kip Walden each added an RBI in the win.

Daviess County 3, WC South 2
Warren County’s sixth-inning rally came up a run short in a 3-2 loss to Daviess County in the 10-11 all-star District 1 tournament championship Wednesday at Ephram White Park.

Trailing 3-1 entering the top of the sixth inning, WC South scored once to cut the deficit to one run before Daviess County closed out the win.
Taye Cleveland went 1-for-2 with two RBIs to lead WC South, which matched Daviess County with six hits each. Hudson Rogers added a 1-for-2 day and scored a run.

Owensboro Southern 12, WC South 6
Owensboro Southern’s 9-10 all-stars captured the District 1 tournament title with a 12-6 win in the championship against Warren County South on Wednesday at Ephram White Park.
Nash Gaebler led WC South at the plate with a pair of hits and two RBIs.
Also for WC South, Grayson Krantz and Landon Bale had two hits apiece.
