James P. “Jimmy” Alexander, age 78 of Brownsville, departed this life on Friday, June 21, 2024 at The Medical Center at Bowling Green. The Edmonson County native was born on November 20, 1945 to the late James Percy and Mildred Kinser Alexander. He was married to his loving wife, Suzanne Mason Alexander, who survives.
Jimmy was a 1963 graduate of Edmonson County High School, and graduated from Western Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Science, Master of Arts and Rank One in education. He retired as an educator from Edmonson County Schools.
Jimmy was an outdoorsman and cherished his time spent working on his farm. He was an animal lover, and adored his Irish Setters, Sham and Scarlett, and his red setter, Blake. His favorite role was being Poppa to his beautiful granddaughters, Mallory and McLaine. He adored them and was one of their biggest supporters in any and all their endeavors.
Besides his wife, Suzanne, he leaves to honor his memory— his daughter, Caroline A. Hudson (Todd) of Bowling Green; his granddaughters, Mallory Todd Hudson and McLaine Alexander Hudson; sister, Sue A. Sanders of Chalybeate; aunt, Lois Willis of Bowling Green; nieces and nephews, Cindi Whittinghill (Kenny), Rich Sanders, Joel Davis (Barbara), Jeannie Basil (Darrell), Todd Sanders (Karen) and Jon Sanders (Stacy), along with a host of friends and extended family members. He was also preceded in death by his beloved sister, Mary Jo Davis.
The visitation will be from 5 – 7 PM, Monday, June 24 and 12 – 3 PM, Tuesday, June 25 at Patton Funeral Home Brownsville Chapel. The funeral service will be at 3 PM, Tuesday, June 25 at Patton Funeral Home Brownsville Chapel with burial to follow in Alexander Cemetery.
