BG East pitching trio combines on no-hitter against Daviess

The pitching trio of Kip Walden, Brady Boyd and Henry Phillips combined on a no-hitter to lead the Bowling Green East 11- and 12-year-old all-stars to an 11-0 win against Daviess County in pool play Sunday in the District 1 Little League Tournament at Ephram White Park.

Walden started and got the win, tossing 2 2/3 scoreless innings while striking out five batters. Boyd followed with 1 1/3 innings of perfect relief and Phillips finished up with a scoreless inning, striking out two.

Phillips had a big day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two home runs and a double.

He tallied four RBIs, scored three runs and notched two stolen bases.

Walden was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI. Easton Crawford went 2-for-2, Dylan White was 2-for-3 and scored two runs, Jake Young drove in two runs and Caleb Harbin also tallied an RBI.

BG East finished pool play Monday with a 17-0 win against Logan County.

Phillips homered and tallied a triple as part of a 2-for-3 day with three RBIs for BG East.

Also for BG East in the victory, Asa Buchanan was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, Captain Carr went 2-for-2 with a double and scored twice, Crawford was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, White was 2-for-3 and scored twice, Young went 2-for-3 with an RBI and scored three runs, Boyd drove in a pair of runs, and Pipes Gaines and Wyatt Scott each chipped in with an RBI.

Gaines started and earned the win, allowing no runs off just one hit and one walk while striking out two. Young finished up with 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief, striking out three.

BG East advances to Tuesday’s semifinals.

WC South 3, WC North 0

Three Warren County South pitchers combined on a two-hit shutout against Warren County North in 10-11 pool play Sunday at Ephram White Park.

Taye Cleveland, Tanner Kroutil and Luke Miller delivered the shutout performance in WC South’s 3-0 win. Cleveland got the start and fired three scoreless innings, alloing just one hit and two walks while striking out six. Kroutil picked up the win in relief with 2 1/3 scoreless innings of work, allowing one hit and a walk while striking out two. Miller finished up by getting the last two outs for the save. He struck out one.

WC South broke a scoreless tie with a three-run rally in the bottom of the fourth inning. Baylor Ramey and Liam Marr tallied RBI singles and Luke Reed brought in another run with an sacrifice fly RBI. WC South tallied three hits total, with Kroutil picking up a single.

WC South next plays in the district semifinals on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

BG East 3, Daviess County 2

Hudson Phillips was 2-for-3 with a triple to pace Bowling Green East to a 3-2 win against Daviess County in 9-10 pool play Sunday at Ephram White Park.

James Goforth singled to lead off the fifth inning and later scored the go-ahead run for BG East.

Easton Jenkins, Eli Johnson and Cruze Kelley combined for a strong pitching effort for BG East, allowing four hits while striking out eight batters.

BG East was set to face Logan County in pool play Monday.{&end}
