Hot Rods fall 4-0 to Crawdads despite Davitt’s strong start

Starting pitcher Duncan Davitt gave up just one run over six innings, but the Bowling Green Hot Rods were shut out 4-0 by the Hickory Crawdads in the final game of the first half on Thursday at L.P. Frans Stadium in Hickory, North Carolina.

Hickory (28-38) struck first in the bottom of the third inning facing Davitt. Yosy Galan singled and moved to second on a stolen base. Alejandro Osuna collected a single to right, scoring Galan to make it 1-0.

The Crawdads opened it up in the bottom of the eighth with three runs against Hot Rods reliever Drew Sommers, taking a 4-0 lead.

Bowling Green (36-30) went scoreless in the ninth, falling 4-0.

Mitch Bratt (4-3) collected the win, allowing six hits, a walk and striking out five over seven scoreless frames. Davitt (5-5) took the loss, allowing a run on four hits and four strikeouts over six innings.
