- High Fidelity performs at Concerts in the Park on Friday, August 9, 2019, at Circus Square Park.
A “part of the summer culture” since 1979 is making its return to Bowling Green.
Concerts in the Park are coming back to Circus Square Park for this year’s series, running June 21 through Sept. 13, including an additional 13th concert as a “big thank you” for voting Concerts in the Park as the top event in the Daily News Best of Bowling Green, according to the Downtown Redevelopment Authority, a non-profit that “helps facilitate the redevelopment of the downtown area.”
Along with the additional concert, DRA Assistant Executive Director Barbara Deeb said the series will be “better than ever,” premiering a new stage, sound system and lights.
The concerts will take place every Friday. Food trucks catering the event will arrive to Circus Square Park at 6 p.m. with music running from 7-9 pm.
Deeb said the series includes bands from the “surrounding areas” and includes a variety of genres “from country, folk, rock ‘n’ roll and soul.” She said a total of 34 bands applied to play a show with only 13 selected.
DRA Executive Director Ron Murphy said the concerts are attended by “people all around the area” and bring in 20,000 people to Bowling Green through the summer months.
“We fill up the park and it’s looked forward to by the public every year,” Murphy said.
