Western Kentucky announced the transfer of Marshall women’s tennis player Emily Schut on Wednesday.

Western Kentucky women’s tennis coach Greg Davis announced the signing of Emily Schut on Wednesday.

Schut joins the Lady Toppers as a transfer from Marshall.

“Happy to have Emily joining us for the 2024-25 season,” Davis said in a news release. “She’s someone I see being a two-way player – both singles and doubles – and is very capable of playing at a high level. I think she will blend in well with our returning players on the team.”

Schut, a sophomore from Woerden, Netherlands, played one season with the Herd. In singles, she claimed victories in six matches against Longwood, Liberty, SMU, Charlotte, Cleveland State and Radford between the fall and spring seasons. She also claimed nine wins in doubles play in 2023-24, beating Eastern Kentucky, Longwood, Liberty, Georgetown, Virginia Tech, Towson, Howard, Radford and Cleveland State.

She won multiple national championships prior to reaching the college ranks, claiming her country’s U16 doubles national title in both indoor and outdoor tennis. In addition, she also reached the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds of several youth championships.

Schut joins returners Sofia Blanco, Sunskrithi Damera, Rachel Hermanova and Mariana Zegada on the 2024-25 roster.

The Lady Toppers are coming off a 14-11 season in 2024, which tied for fourth-most wins in a single season in program history. WKU is in its winningest three-year stretch in program history, with 47 wins coming during that period.
