Traffic growing into a disaster

There’s no doubt that Bowling Green is a growing city that needs a long-range plan to address that growth. We don’t need another Scottsville Road bottleneck.

To the east of the city is Plum Springs, which is poised for significant growth. The traffic problems have already become apparent. To get from Plum Springs to Bowling Green, you need to cross Barren River. There are currently only two ways to get across the river to Bowling Green. Use Louisville Road into downtown or Interstate 65 to access the various exit ramps. A third alternative needs to be developed to ease congestion. A direct connection from the Louisville Road area to Lovers Lane would be appropriate. An alternative would be to connect Interstate 65 on the southside of exit 28 near the Corvette Museum to exit 26 at Cemetery Road. At present, no long-range plans have addressed this issue. Planning only addresses current problems. The city/county needs a far-reaching plan to prevent a total disaster. I love Bowling Green. However, growth is becoming an overwhelming problem that isn’t being addressed.
