Drowning confirmed at Weldon Peete Park

A man died in a drowning incident in the Barren River, the Bowling Green Police Department confirmed Saturday.

BGPD Public Information Officer Ronnie Ward told the Daily News the 59-year-old man, whose identity has not been released, was retrieving his boat after it slipped away at Weldon Peete Park’s boat ramp.

Bystanders pulled the man from the water and sought help. He was transported to Med Center Health, Ward said.
