A fire that broke out early Wednesday at Wendy’s on the U.S. 31-W By-Pass is being investigated by the Bowling Green Police Department.

Officer Ronnie Ward, BGPD spokesman, said city police are investigating the fire as a burglary and the BGPD is working with the Bowling Green Fire Department to determine whether the fire was an arson.

The BGFD was called out to the restaurant around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday to fight the fire, which damaged the building.

The origin and cause of the fire were under investigation as of Wednesday afternoon.
