BG resident arrested in Allen stabbing

A man was stabbed early Tuesday at a Scottsville apartment, and police arrested a suspect in Bowling Green.

Cain A. Pennington, 35, was arrested on charges of first-degree assault and first-degree burglary.

Pennington is accused of stabbing Clinton Burton at ALCO Apartments on Moncrief Street in Scottsville.

According to the Scottsville Police Department, officers were called around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday to an East Maple Street home, where police made contact with Burton, who was then taken to The Medical Center in Bowling Green for treatment of suspected stab wounds.

An investigation determined that the alleged incident took place at ALCO Apartments, and police found blood in the bedroom and entryway of a unit.

A witness reported that Pennington entered the apartment and stabbed Burton while he was in bed, according to an arrest citation.

Police determined Pennington was living in Bowling Green and he was located there by the Bowling Green Police Department and arrested.

Pennington acknowledged going to the apartment but denied stabbing Burton, his arrest citation said. 

Pennington was placed in Allen County Detention Center under a $50,000 cash bond.
