The Western Kentucky University Police Department is investigating a death at the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity house.
According to a police report from WKUPD, the department received a call from the Bowling Green Police Department at 11:59 a.m. Wednesday about a death at 1504 Chestnut St.
The deceased was identified as a student at WKU and a member of the fraternity living in the house.
According to the report, the man was found hanging from a piece of exercise equipment in a workout room off of the basement of the house.
A handwritten note was found on a workout bench.
Warren County Deputy Coroners Phillip Wheeler and Kevin Brooks removed the body from the scene.
The report stated Wheeler listed the time of death at 12:40 p.m., although he had “probably been deceased approximately 12 hours.”
No foul play is suspected at this time, WKU said in a statement.
“WKU is working directly with students who may be most affected by this loss, but we encourage any students in need of counseling to seek support from the WKU Counseling Center by calling 270-745-3159,” WKU said in the statement. “We extend our deepest condolences to the student’s family, loved ones and friends.”
The investigation into the death is ongoing.
According to a Daily News article from July 25, 2017, another death was investigated at the Lambda Chi house.
A 58-year-old Bowling Green man was living at the house temporarily at that time while experiencing family difficulties when he was found deceased by a fraternity member, according to the article.
