BOWLING GREEN – Daisy Lee Smith, 101, of Bowling Green passed away peacefully at her home. The Warren County native was a daughter of the late William Finley Smith Sr. and Eunice Katherine Perkins Smith.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Marguerite (Erwin) Hardison and three brothers, Joseph (Mary) Smith, William (Ann) Smith, and Harold Smith.
Miss Smith worked 36 years with the Federal Government, five years with the War Department and 31 years with the USDA, Soil Conservation Service.
She was a member of Faith Methodist Church, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and had served as State Treasurer of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority. She was a Kentucky Colonel and a graduate of Bowling Green Business University.
She was an inspiration and blessing to her family and anyone she came in contact with. Her faith, sweet spirit, and amazing attitude toward others and her life, helped her live to be 101. She claimed her longevity by eating eggs every day, but it was her amazing strength and love for life that sustained her.
Miss Smith loved to travel, eat out, watch classic movies, especially musicals and sports, and loved to be with family and friends. Survivors include her many beloved nieces and nephews and her sister-in-law, Georgiana Smith.
The family is very grateful to her devoted caregivers, Barbara Edmonds, Carrie Hargis, Katrina Tipton, loving neighbor Karen Ray, and to Hospice of Southern Kentucky.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 12:00 pm on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home with burial in Fairview Cemetery #1. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturday at the funeral home.
