A Bowling Green man was injured Wednesday night in a shooting.
Kaelin Yarbrough, 31, was treated and released from The Medical Center following what the Bowling Green Police Department described as an isolated incident.
According to a BGPD incident report, officers were contacted at 8:38 p.m. by someone who reported hearing shots fired in the area of Hummingbird Apartments, 1367 Clay St.
While traveling to the complex, police learned that a man had been shot.
The report classifies the incident as a second-degree assault.
Police met with a woman in the courtyard of the complex who said a man, later identified as Yarbrough, was in a residence across the street.
Yarbrough initially told police he was in an alley near W. 12th Avenue when he was approached by a man who brandished a handgun and shot him, the incident report said.
A redacted version of the report indicates that Yarbrough was familiar with the alleged assailant.
As he was being transported to The Medical Center by EMS, Yarbrough said the incident occurred in the area of W. 15th Avenue and Stubbins Street, the city police report said.
Police spoke with a woman at the residence who told officers that Yarbrough arrived unannounced and began beating at the door and saying he had been shot, the report said.
A similar account was provided to police by the woman’s boyfriend, according to the report.
Warren County Regional Jail records indicate that Yarbrough was booked into the jail early Thursday on an unrelated probation violation.
