The Good Feet Store, offering customized arch supports to meet various sizes and needs, has opened its first Bowling Green location at 760 Campbell Lane.

California-based Good Feet Store has selected a well-traveled road as a place to put down its first footprint in Bowling Green.

Good Feet, a manufacturer and retailer of custom arch supports, has opened a store in the Buckhead Square shopping center at 760 Campbell Lane, sandwiching between Gigi’s Cupcakes and One Main Financial.

It’s only the fifth Kentucky location for Good Feet, joining the four total stores operating in Lexington and Louisville.

“We’re very careful about where we go,” said Doug Zarkin, the company’s chief brand officer. “Our team looks at community makeup and if that community is growing. We look for vibrant communities.

“We felt that Bowling Green is a place where we could put down roots.”

Good Feet, a Carlsbad, California-based company founded in 1992, has grown to more than 250 locations in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. Zarkin credits the privately held company’s focus on producing custom-fitted products as a key to its growth.

“We utilize a three-step system much like what you go through if you get braces for your teeth,” Zarkin said in a Friday phone interview. “It really helps bring the foot and the rest of your body into alignment.

“Our arch support specialists look at your weight distribution and figure out a specialized system for you. It’s not a one-size-fits-all approach.”

According to the company’s website, Good Feet’s arch supports come in more than 400 styles, flexibilities, and sizes that allow customers to be personally fit to meet their specific needs.

Zarkin said Good Feet’s products, manufactured at its Carlsbad location, can be used by everyone from athletes looking to improve their performance to people with debilitating foot pain.

According to a news release, Good Feet’s arch supports are designed to place the foot in its ideal position and match each individual’s anatomy, footwear and lifestyle.

“Our products are not just for people in pain,” Zarkin said. “It can be preventative and can help someone perform at their best.”

Zarkin said the Bowling Green Good Feet Store, which opened Thursday, will employ from five to 10 workers, depending on the season and demand.

Store hours are 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Sundays.
