Four months after a man was arrested in connection with 30 pounds of marijuana found in a rented AirBnB house in Bowling Green, police arrested him at a house in Butler County where about 40 pounds of marijuana was found, according to police.
Alan Pacheco Esquivel, 22, of Morgantown, was arrested Wednesday by the Kentucky State Police Interdiction Unit after police executed a search warrant at Esquivel’s residence on Logan Hunt Road in Morgantown.
According to the Bowling Green-Warren County Drug Task Force, detectives obtained a search warrant through surveillance and investigation.
An arrest citation said that postal inspectors intercepted a suspicious package that was destined for Esquivel’s Morgantown address, with investigators believing it contained a large amount of suspected marijuana.
Officials made a controlled delivery of the package, and law enforcement observed the parcel being taken in by Esquivel and another man, identified as Benjamin Alexis Alicea, 39, of Morgantown.
Upon executing the warrant, investigators saw the package had been opened, and several bags of marijuana were inside it, an arrest citation said.
Police also seized a handgun and $2,652 in cash.
Esquivel and Alicea were charged with trafficking in marijuana (more than five pounds).
Esquivel had been arrested on Aug. 16 in Bowling Green on the same offense, along with another person, after detectives executed a search warrant at the AirBandB on East 13th Avenue and found 30 pounds of suspected marijuana.
That case is pending in Warren Circuit Court, while the Butler County investigation continues.
