BOWLING GREEN – Nanette Coomer Johnson, 74, of Redlands, CA, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2023. Born Wayne Lansden Coomer on February 19, 1949 in Hopkinsville, KY, Wayne later chose the name Nanette.

Nanette, a long time resident of Bowling Green, was preceded in death by dear friend and husband Gene Johnson; parents Rev. John L. & Nancy Coomer; step-mother Margie Coomer; brothers Donald Coomer, Kenneth Coomer, Rev. J. Harold Coomer, and sister Margie Roach. Nanette is survived by brother Rev. John Carroll Coomer (Janice) of Bowling Green; two sisters-in-law, Linda Coomer (Kenneth) and Trudy Coomer (Harold), both of Louisville; step-siblings Doug Breeding (Kim) of Lexington and Nancy Smith (Buddy) of Columbia, KY; as well as a large number of nieces and nephews, grand and great, who knew they were loved very deeply.

A very beloved and dear friend to many, Nanette was a wonderful storyteller and keeper of family history. Nanette had been a caregiver for a number of people throughout the years, including family members, and as a professional through home health agencies and hospice.

With a deep appreciation of music, Nanette was a talented pianist, organist, and vocalist, and favored the quote which has been attributed to St. Augustine, β€œHe who sings prays twice.” Nanette would be quick to give glory to the Lord and tell all about Jesus. Cremation was chosen. Details regarding a memorial will be provided at a later date.
