One dead, three injured in Simpson crash

One person died and three others were injured in a crash in Simpson County involving a tractor-trailer and an SUV.

According to Kentucky State Police, the crash occurred around 11:30 a.m. Nov. 2 at Ky. 1008 and Ky. 1171.

A Ford SUV driven by Bailee J. Deweese, 18, of Franklin, was stopped at a stop sign on Ky. 1171 before turning onto Ky. 1008.

A 2016 Freightliner driven by Thaddeus Johnson, 40, of Bowling Green, was traveling east on Ky. 1008 and was unable to avoid striking Deweese’s SUV as it turned in front of him, KSP said.

Deweese was treated at The Medical Center in Franklin, while three passengers – Isaac Shields, 21, of Scottsville, Alexandria West, 19, of Scottsville and a 2-year-old child were flown to hospitals in Tennessee.

KSP was notified on Nov. 4 that Shields died from his injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
