She was arraigned Friday in Warren District Court. Online court records indicate a public defender was appointed to represent Freeman, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.

According to an arrest citation, deputies were called to Freeman’s home on Tacoma Court around 8:30 p.m. Thursday regarding a possible death investigation.

A 6-year-old had gone to a neighbor’s house and told them he thought his mother was dead and that she was foaming at the mouth in her bedroom, the citation said.

Deputies and members of the Richardsville Volunteer Fire Department went to Freeman’s residence and found her speaking on the floor, and a second child was found asleep on the living room couch.

Authorities found pill residue on the bed and floor and marijuana in a room in the home, and part of a pill recovered from the scene was determined to be fentanyl, the citation said.

“The pill residue and the other half of the pill were in easy access, where the children could touch or ingest the pill or residue powder from the pill,” the citation said.

The neighbor who had contacted law enforcement told deputies that when she entered the home she found Freeman slumped over a clothes basket and turning purple, according to the arrest citation.

Freeman was placed in Warren County Regional Jail under a $25,000 cash bond.
