Making bypass three lanes the wrong choice
There are no easy solutions to improve traffic and safety on U.S. 31-W By-Pass, but going from four lanes to three in a rapidly growing community is the wrong choice.

I read the Strand Associates traffic study that the city of Bowling Green relied on to make the bypass three lanes between University Boulevard and Lehman Avenue. The study emphasized that a turn lane would improve traffic flow by removing left-turners from the way of traffic. However, the study did not mention any right-turners, and there will be a lot of cars making 90-degree right turns into commercial businesses. I’m afraid traffic will worsen. I urge the city to postpone this change until a study that includes how right turns here will affect traffic is done.
