Local roads are a mess

Having lived here in Bowling Green for over 40 years and watching it grow, I am amazed that whoever is in charge of repairing our roads still holds that office.

It takes them two or more times to fix issues on our streets. Here are a couple of examples. Double Springs Road is close to Sugar Maple Square. There has been a bad dip in that road for over 20 years. The street dept. comes out to fix it. It had a worse dip than before they came to fix it. So they come back out to fix it again. Now mind you this isn’t a pothole, this is the entire width of the road. They come and work on it again, now when it rains it has a low spot that gathers water. This can cause you to have a wreck.

The other example is on Hwy. 185. They took 3 trips to fix a 10 x 20-foot section of the road. On Covington, there are lots of issues with city road repair as well as on the bypass down by where the tornado hit.

It looks like amateurs were allowed to do the work. These are our tax dollars being wasted by bad management and supervisors. On Hwy. 185, when I called about how bad the repair job was, the supervisor told me they didn’t want to bring the roller out to level their work because it cost too much. I wonder how much it cost for them to come out there two more times and finally bring out the roller instead of fixing it right the first time?
