On April 14, 1930, the Daily News reported that work was beginning on a new electric power plant on the riverbank in Delafield. As of that morning, a team was working on laying a railroad spur; once complete it would allow construction materials to be hauled directly to the new building site.
The new plant would have a 6500 kW capacity, more than the previous main plant in Hopkinsville and the smaller emergency power plant in Bowling Green combined. Construction was estimated to end around April of the next year.
