Mouse in elevator cable puts lift out of order

The Daily News reported that on December 13, 1921, a mouse disabled the elevator in the State Capitol Building in Frankfort, Kentucky. The rodent somehow got to the top of the elevator, climbed up a cable, and was electrocuted when it came into contact with the electronic control lift.

The unfortunate mouse short-circuited the controls and prevented the elevator from descending, although it would still go up. The capitol electrician took two hours to get the elevator back in order.
