Goblins, witches celebrate the season

On Oct. 31, 1922, The Park City Daily News proclaimed “the goblins’ll get you if you don’t watch out! It’s Halloween!”

People were dressing up for the event, but pranks of past years, such as buggies on top of barns and business signs switched around, were no longer the style. And while “harmful pranks are things of the past” farmers all over were reportedly missing pumpkins. The Shriners organized a masquerade, and the Armory rink conjured up a costumed dance. Readers were warned “Just lock your house, watch your gate and pray no damage be done.”
