When veteran clothes salesman Ed Clemons first started working for Sam Pushin and brother, “barking” for business was a common tactic of standing in front of a store calling out to passers-by to draw in customers.
In an Oct. 16, 1930, article in the Park City Daily News, Clemons explains that he “went with Sam Pushin and Brother in 1899” during the time of the “Pioneer Days of Merchandising.” Clemons, a 31-year employee, was employed with Sam Pushin and Brother before the Pushin’s Department Store was built at the corner of College and Main streets. The building is still used today, although it is no longer a department store.
