Greenview Hospital opens in 1972

“With six patients admitted, Greenview Hospital opened on Tuesday,” staff writer Roger Miller reported for the Daily News in the Sept. 13, 1972, edition of the paper.

Greenview Hospital was Bowling Green’s second privately financed and privately owned hospital. Most of the hospital’s facilities were open at the time of the report with the exception of the intensive care and the coronary units. The emergency room was not manned by on-call doctors because there were not enough doctors available to cover both the Greenview Hospital and the City-County Hospital, so if someone had an emergency they had to go to the City-County Hospital.
