Matthew Dyer had two hits and drove in the lone run for the Bowling Green Hot Rods in a 5-1 loss to the Asheville Tourists at McCormick Field on Saturday night in Asheville, N.C.

Asheville (58-66 overall, 32-27 second half) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning thanks to a two-run homer, but BG (74-50, 33-26) got a run back in the top of the third. Mason Auer worked a two-out walk against Asheville starter Ryan Gusto and scored when Dyer doubled off the left-center field wall to make it a 2-1 game.

The Tourists scored a run in each of the next two innings, adding another in the eighth, and while BG had two baserunners thanks to walks in the ninth, the effort fell short in a 5-1 loss.

Hot Rods starting pitcher Nathan Wiles (1-2) allowed four runs on 11 hits with five strikeouts in a loss. Antonio Menendez tossed 2.1 innings out of the bullpen, allowing one run, one hit, and one walk with two strikeouts.

The two teams will play the series finale Sunday with a 5:05 p.m. CT first pitch. Right-hander Victor Muñoz (3-2, 3.08) will start for the Hot Rods, while righty Rhett Kouba (5-2, 4.53) takes the mound for the Tourists.
