Bowling Green’s population was expected to hit 15,000 when the latest census was complete, according to a front-page article in the Aug. 22, 1922, Daily News.

Postmaster Clarence Neighbors based his estimate on the census conducted by the post office. Neighbors said he believed when every person within the corporate city limits was counted, the figure would nearly double the census of 1920.
