Evidence destroyed at river’s edge

On April 18, 1925, at 4 on a Friday afternoon, Arch Isbell led police on a 10-block car chase through downtown Bowling Green, stopped two feet from the bluff at the end of State Street and flung a quart jar into the river before being arrested.
Isbell’s run-ins with the law seem to have started in 1922, and he had been charged numerous times with both possession and transportation of alcohol in contravention of the Prohibition law. This time Isbell, a former police officer, couldn’t be charged with possession but was fined more than $150 for reckless driving and speeding.
