Local artist organizes Cyber Art Exhibit

Like others, local artists have had to come up with creative new ways to share their work as venues were shutdown in response to Covid-19. Artist and curator Jessica Snodgrass responded with the creation of cyberartexhibit.com. According to the site: “Cyber Art Exhibit is an online gallery experience showcasing the work of various artists outside of the usual social media norms, minus the interference of scrolling news feeds, distracting comments, and counting an arbitrary number of likes allowing the viewer to take in each work of art with minimal distraction.”

The first exhibit in the series is currently available and will remain so through September 1. Entitled The Covid-19 Exhibit, it features visual as well as writing and audio submissions from 40 local artists inspired by the theme.

“I’ve always loved curating art exhibits and had been missing connecting with other artists. The COVID exhibit was a way to get connected again with artists and share their work with new audiences. I was so excited to have a variety of artists from all over with different forms of expression participated” said Snodgrass.

Before the pandemic began Snodgrass was in the process of opening Flux and Flame Studio and Art Gallery at 430 US 31W Bypass, Suite 102, near Local Taco. Until she is able to open the space, Snodgrass has been focusing on her own work creating sterling silver jewelry as well as functional and sculptural ceramics.
