Ramic, Mustafic help Berea to first-ever win in USA South Tournament

Berea freshman outside hitter Vanessa Ramic (Warren Central Class of 2019) tallied 10 kills and four service aces in Tuesday’s 3-1 volleyball win over LaGrange (Ga.) in the opening round of the USA South Tournament in Maryville, Tenn.

Ramic also tallied six digs and a block assist.

Berea senior defensive specialist Mersiha Mustafic (Warren Central Class of 2016) added 11 digs in the win.

Host Maryville ended Berea’s season with a 3-0 win. Ramic had two kills and a service ace and Mustafic added seven digs and an assist in the loss for Berea (12-17).

Transylvania freshman outside hitter Emmie Bender (Greenwood Class of 2019) tied for a team-high with 13 kills in Saturday’s 3-0 home volleyball win over Manchester (Ind.).

Bender also had three digs, a block assist and an assist.

Transylvania (24-4 overall, 9-0 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference) will play next at home in the HCAC Tournament semifinals on Nov. 9.

Centre junior middle blocker/opposite Abby Dallas (Bowling Green Class of 2017) tallied two kills, two block assists, a solo block and an assist in Saturday’s 3-1 road volleyball loss to host Washington (Mo.).

Also Saturday against Depauw, tallied five kills and three block assists in a 3-0 loss.

Centre (7-17 overall, 4-10 Southern Athletic Association) will face Hendrix (Ark.) in the SAA Tournament on Nov. 8 in Birmingham, Ala.

Kentucky Wesleyan junior setter/defensive specialist Lydia Jackson (South Warren Class of 2017) finished with a team-high 15 assists and added 13 digs and a service ace in Saturday’s 3-0 home volleyball loss to Hillsdale (Mich.).

KWC senior middle hitter Sierra Morrow (Logan County Class of 2016) totaled five kills, three block assists and three digs. Kentucky Wesleyan sophomore outside hitter Alexa Davis (Greenwood Class of 2018) had two kills, two digs and a block assist.

KWC will travel to Tiffin (Ohio) on Nov. 7.

Bearcats sophomore middle hitter Shelby Hardison (Logan County Class of 2018) tallied four kills and a pair of block assists in Saturday’s 3-0 home volleyball win over Cincinnati Christian.

Brescia’s Kailee Moore (Logan County Class of 2017) added five digs and an assist.

Brescia (24-6 overall, 13-1 River States Conference) hosts Midway on Nov. 8.

Pikeville junior libero Brittany Reels (Greenwood Class of 2017) had seven digs and an assist in Tuesday’s 3-0 road volleyball loss to Kentucky Christian.

Pikeville (9-20) hosts Cumberland (Tenn.) on Nov. 9.

Oakland sophomore middle blocker Kerra Cornist (Logan County Class of 2018) tallied a block assist in Sunday’s 3-0 home volleyball win over Youngstown State.

Oakland (13-11 overall, 6-6 Horizon League) hosts Northern Kentucky on Nov. 6.
