Stamper fires record round at Day 1 of Kentucky Junior Am

Allen County-Scottsville’s Owen Stamper shot a record round Tuesday in the first round of the Kentucky Boys Junior Amateur at Bardstown County Club.

Stamper fired a 9-under par 63 to set a new record for the lowest round in Kentucky Boys Junior Amateur history. It’s also the new course record at Bardstown Country Club from the blue tees.

The rising senior shot a bogey-free round that featured seven birdies and an eagle on the par-five 18th hole. His stellar round gave him a two-shot lead over Lexington Christian’s Jansen Preston.

Stamper and Preston will tee of the in the final grouping at 9:15 a.m. CDT on Wednesday morning.
