Young’s 3-run walk-off blast lifts Lady Raiders to win

Freshman Emma Young connected for a three-run walk-off home run as Warren East’s softball team stayed unbeaten with a come-from-behind 5-3 win in eight innings over Pleasure Ridge Park on Friday in the Team Lauren Cancer Awareness Tournament at Daviess County.
Olivia Price had an RBI single and Jeyda Bays tallied a sacrifice fly RBI for the Lady Raiders, who improved to 27-0 with the victory.
South Warren 1, Holy Cross (Louisville) 0
Emily Reynolds delivered an RBI triple in the third inning and South Warren pitchers Taylor Enlow and Selynna Metcalfe combined to shut out Holy Cross (Louisville) 1-0 in the Best of the West Tournament Friday at Buchanon Park.
South Warren improved to 17-11 with the victory.
Greenwood 2, Webster County 0
Kayden Murray fired seven scoreless innings as Greenwood downed Webster County 2-0 in the Best of the West on Friday.
Murray struck out nine and earned the win for the Lady Gators.
Kaylee Allen had a pair of hits to pace Greenwood (16-8).
Bowling Green 15, Todd County Central 0
Host Bowling Green needed just three innings to tally a 15-0 win over Todd County Central on Friday.
Gia Martin was 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI, Kassidy Mason went 2-for-3 with a double and five RBIs and Elizabeth Richey had a pair of doubles and three RBIs for Bowling Green (13-14).
Also for the Lady Purples, Abigail Peay was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Kendle White drove in two runs.
Payton Briley pitched three scoreless innings for the win.
Logan County 2, Madisonville-N. Hopkins 0
Logan County’s Shelby Gettings fired a complete-game shutout to lead the visiting Lady Cougars past Madisonville-North Hopkins on Friday.
Gettings allowed five hits and a walk while striking out eight to earn the victory.
Gettings added an RBI single and Lillie Newman chipped in with a double for Logan County (20-5).
Baseball
Warren Central 16, Russellville 2
Visiting Warren Central erupted for 10 runs in the top of the first inning en route to a 16-2 mercy rule-shortened win in four innings over Russellville on Friday.
Noah Thomas was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI and Jordan Miller went 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs to pace the Dragons.
Also for Warren Central (6-20), Ethan Stephens was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and DC Rigsby drove in three runs. Dragons starter Kyle Torrence went two innings for the win, and Stephens finished up with five strikeouts over the final two innings. Warren Central snapped an 11-game losing streak.
Trenton Hopkins had an RBI for Russellville (2-16).
South Warren 5, Butler County 1
Karsten Turner was 3-for-3 with a pair of RBIs to lead visiting South Warren to a 5-1 win over Butler County on Friday.
Sam Gage added two hits – including a triple – and Trent Rice had a double and three RBIs for the Spartans. Coleman House worked two innings of scoreless relief to earn the win for South Warren (23-8).
Hunter McKee was 2-for-3 with a double and Ross West went 2-for-4 for Butler County (13-13). Carter Graham drove in the Bears’ lone run.
Logan County 1, Barren County 0
Parker White fired a complete-game shutout as visiting Logan County nipped Barren County 1-0 on Friday.
White allowed just three hits and a walk while striking out six. Barren County starter Justin Combs was also dominant, allowing just one unearned run off six hits and a walk while fanning 12 in a complete-game effort.
Braxton Meguiar was 3-for-4 and Zach Yates went 2-for-3 to lead Logan County (22-6). Barren fell to 8-15.
