MTSU deals 7-0 women’s tennis loss to Lady Toppers

Western Kentucky’s women’s tennis fell to Conference USA foe Middle Tennessee in its regular-season finale Friday. The Lady Toppers lost 7-0 to the Blue Raiders at the Adams Tennis Complex in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
After MTSU won the doubles point, the Blue Raiders secured the win with six victories in singles. In No. 1 singles, MTSU’s Constanza Magazzini beat Laura Bernardos 6-3, 6-1. MTSU’s Lidia Burrows beat Lucia Diaz Saez 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2, while teammate Zani Barnard topped WKU’s Judit Gonzalz Agud 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3, Luisa Zirilli beat the Lady Tops’ Zeniece Charles-Hall 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4 and MTSU’s Marta Peris Herrero downed Kyla Dilger 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5. The Blue Raiders’ No. 6 Lee Barnard won by forfeit.

WKU finished the regular season with a 3-16 mark and a 0-4 record in C-USA action.
The Conference USA Women’s Tennis Championship begins Thursday and runs through April 21 in Houston. The bracket will be released early next week.
