Two Bowling Green teenagers were arrested after another person said he was robbed at gunpoint for a cellphone and threatened with being thrown from a balcony.
Mario Frazier, 18, and Olivier Shema, 18, were arrested Saturday night on charges of first-degree robbery, first-degree wanton endangerment, theft by unlawful taking (less than $500) and second-degree criminal mischief.
Bowling Green Police Department officers arrested the pair in connection with a robbery that reportedly took place Friday at Lampkin Place Apartments on Morgantown Road.
Officers responding to what was originally a report of an assault were directed to meet with the reported victim, Scott Bambini, at Walmart on Morgantown Road.
Bambini had visible injuries on his face, arms and upper torso, according to police records.
Bambini told police he had been in an altercation with Frazier over a cellphone that Bambini had gotten for his ex-girlfriend and then took back after learning she slept with Frazier.
During the altercation, Frazier began punching Bambini and moving him to a corner in the living room.
“Bambini stated that Mario then directed Olivier Shema to punch him and both parties assaulted him in an effort to get him to disclose the location of the cellphone,” BGPD Officer Jennifer Owen wrote in an arrest citation. “Bambini stated that he was hit with both parties’ fists, a skateboard and a crutch.”
Frazier was alleged to have pulled a handgun and held it at Bambini’s neck, telling him that the gun was loaded and demanding the cellphone’s location.
Frazier is also accused of destroying Bambini’s cellphone.
Bambini said Frazier and Shema forced him outside the apartment and held him next to the balcony railing.
“Bambini advised that they threatened to throw him over if he did not tell them where (the cellphone) was located,” Owen said in the arrest citation.
The robbers were told where the cellphone was, and when they went to retrieve it, Bambini ran toward Walmart, according to police records.
Police received a tip Saturday about the location of the suspects, who were found at an apartment on Sun Court. Shema invoked his right to remain silent, while Frazier denied knowing Bambini and denied being in any physical altercation, the arrest citations said.
The pair are in Warren County Regional Jail under $10,000 cash bonds.
