5 singles wins earn Lady Toppers victory at Dayton

Western Kentucky’s tennis team earned five singles wins Sunday at Dayton to take a 5-2 victory on the Flyers’ home court. WKU has won three of its last four matches.
Beginning with doubles action, WKU’s freshmen pair returned to the court at the No. 2 spot. Judit Gonzalez Agud and Zeniece Charles-Hall lost 6-2. WKU lost the third position by default and Dayton claimed the doubles point.
At the time the doubles point was clinched, WKU junior Lisa Friess and sophomore Laura Bernardos were ahead 5-2 in their No. 1 doubles match.
Bernardos led the lineup at the No. 1 singles spot, winning her match 6-3, 4-0 (default). Friess won at the second position 6-4, 6-2.
Spain natives Diaz Saez and Gonzalez Agud played at the No. 3 and 4, respectively. Both Lady Toppers were victorious in three-set matches. Diaz Saez won her match 1-6, 6-2, 6-2, while Gonzalez Agud won 6-3, 2-6, 6-4.
Charles-Hall finished the lineup for WKU, winning her No. 5 match in straight sets 6-2, 6-0. The Lady Toppers lost the sixth singles spot by default.
WKU (3-11 overall, 0-2 Conference USA) will host its final home match of the season Saturday. The Lady Toppers are set to face North Alabama at the WKU Tennis Complex.{&end}
