Lady Tops earn first tennis win against Tennessee State

Western Kentucky’s women’s tennis team recorded its first win of the season Friday, beating Tennessee State 4-3 in Nashville.
WKU won four singles matches, each in straight sets.
After the Lady Toppers lost the doubles point, WKU’s Laura Bernardos won her No. 2 singles match 6-4, 6-1 against Pragait Natraj and WKU’s Lisa Friess defeated Mackenzie Beckham 6-2, 7-5 in the third spot.
At No. 1, WKU’s Millie Khoury lost 6-2, 6-2 to Tennessee State’s Aarushi Kakkar. WKU’s Lucia Diaz Saez played at the No. 4 and lost 6-2, 6-4 to Claudia Sole.
Rounding out the WKU lineup were two Lady Topper freshmen. Judit Gonzalez Agud won at the No. 5 with a 6-4, 6-2 decision over Ashia Jones and Zeniece Charles-Hall got the clinching win for WKU with a 6-0, 6-0 match over Lydia Jones at No. 6.
WKU (1-10) will continue weekend action against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Saturday in Nashville.
