Martin, Spartans set records in 101-87 win over Hart County

South Warren’s boys’ basketball team had a record-setting day Saturday against visiting Hart County.

The Spartans set a new school single-game scoring record in their 101-87 win over the visiting Raiders. South Warren senior guard Tyler Martin also eclipsed the school’s career scoring mark, finishing the day with 1,199 points after tallying a game-high 33 points in the win.

South Warren (12-14) erupted for 37 points in the second quarter to take command. Martin hit three of his five 3-pointers in that frame as the Spartans built a 57-40 halftime lead.

Jace Carver and Caden Veltkamp added 20 points each for the Spartans, who sank 10 3-pointers in the win. Gavin Spurrier chipped in with 12 points.

John Shoulders had 26 points and Jordan Burden added 23 to lead Hart County.

South Warren is back in action Monday against visiting Clinton County for a 7:30 p.m. game.
