Lady Tops’ Nott wins 3rd straight triple jump title

Western Kentucky freshman Myesha Nott led WKU’s track and field team at the Rod McCravy Memorial Invite on Saturday as she claimed her third triple jump title of the season in Lexington.
In total, WKU earned 15 top-10 finishes across the two-day meet at the Nutter Fieldhouse on Kentucky’s campus.
Nott’s triple jump crown on the women’s side represented one of the Lady Toppers’ six top-10 finishes across the meet. Her mark of 12.44 meters was her second-best jump of the season. Annastacia Forrester brought home a fourth-place showing in the event as well.
In the high jump, Katie Isenbarger registered her third-straight meet of either winning the event or matching the top mark and taking second on jumps. The dual-sport athlete took second place with a jump of 1.66 meters, clearing on the second attempt.
Forrester also collected a second-place finish with a runner-up performance in the long jump after covering 5.92 meters. Briana Eskridge collected an eighth-place finish in the long jump.
Rounding out the six top-10 finishes for the Lady Toppers was Nicole Ogorek’s eighth-place showing in the pole vault.
On the men’s side, there were seven individual top-10 showings in addition to a pair of top-eight finishes in the 4×400-meter relay. The relay combination of Lincoln Warren, Oliver Alexandre, Kymari Gates and Ka’Ven Berry took second place with a season-best time of 3:08.07. The mark currently ranks 13th in the nation and is the third-fastest time in the WKU indoor record books. WKU’s second relay unit, comprised of Abdur Kelly, Josh Davis, Austin Hayes and Maor Seged clocked a 3:17.00 for eighth place.
In his first official 400-meter dash of the season, Alexandre earned third place overall and second among the collegiate competitors with a time of 47.30. Warren took sixth in the event.
In the 800-meter race, WKU’s Berry (1:54.32) set a season-best for the team as he finished fifth. Kelly and Dedrick Troxell were eighth and ninth, respectively.
In the distance events, the Hilltoppers’ Clint Sherman was seventh in the 3,000 meters and Emerson Wells was seventh in the 5,000 meters.
WKU will wrap up its regular-season slate Friday and Saturday at the Vanderbilt-hosted Music City Challenge, marking the squad’s fifth-straight week of competition.
