Brides-to-be facing the difficulties of planning a wedding can find all the resources they might need at this Saturday’s SOKY Bridal Expo.

Tootie Finkbone, a wedding planner and the expo’s organizer, said roughly 100 vendors specializing in every aspect of wedding planning, from dresses to catering to venues to wedding photography, will be there.

The expo is focused on the brides, and aims to help ease the process of planning and organizing a wedding, Finkbone said, adding that many brides begin planning in earnest this time of year.

“More than half of engaged couples get engaged between October and Christmas so January’s a prime time to get started,” she said.

The expo is intended to provide solutions to all of a bride’s wedding planning needs under one roof, Finkbone said.

“The planning process can be very tedious and it’s just important to have a plan,” she said.

The expo is at Knicely Conference Center from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., though brides registering online can get in at 10 a.m., Finkbone said.

Brides can register on sokybridalexpo.com for $8, she said.

Typically, brides attend the show with at least one companion, be it their mother or a member of the bridal party, Finkbone said.

Admission is $8 per bride and per guest online, and $10 per person at the door, though children 12 and under and grooms attending with their fiancees get in free, she said.

A full list of vendors can be found on the website as well.

Finkbone said she started the SOKY Bridal Expo in 2013 because she thought Bowling Green needed another bridal show, in addition to the other two that were held in town every year at the time, to keep up with the growth of the area as a wedding destination.

“Bowling Green is a place for destination weddings because of the beauty of the area,” she said, adding that the cost of having a wedding in Bowling Green is much lower than it would be in Louisville or Nashville.

Finkbone suggests brides wear comfortable shoes to the expo and figure out beforehand what aspects of planning the wedding they still need to arrange.

“They need to really research what they need to accomplish most at the show,” she said.
