Caroline Buchanan built a career of assisting scorers. She was celebrated for her own score Wednesday.

Buchanan signed a national letter of intent to join the women’s soccer team at the University of Alabama-Huntsville on Wednesday.

Buchanan leaves with a Lady Purples’ record 63 career assists.

“It means a lot having my friends and family and everyone who helped me get to this point today,” Buchanan said. “The girls were so welcoming when I visited and it was so nice and it made me feel like a family in one day. Just an amazing atmosphere that meant a lot.”

Buchanan set the single-season record with 23 assists this year as Bowling Green won the District 14 Tournament and reached the Region 4 final. She finished her career with 42 goals.
