Position-by-position breakdown

QUARTERBACK: Western Kentucky coach Mike Sanford hasn’t publicly named a starter for this game. He did, however, rule out his team’s starter from its Nov. 2 loss at Middle Tennessee, Drew Eckels, because of an injury. Oklahoma transfer Chris Robison has thrown eight touchdowns for Florida Atlantic but has also been reckless with the ball (10 interceptions). ADVANTAGE: FAU

RUNNING BACK: Joshua Samuel leads the Hilltoppers this season in rushing yards per game (47.9) and yards per carry (5.2). The Owls’ Devin Singletary is the reigning Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week. He ran 27 times for 184 yards and three TDs last week in a win over FIU. Singletary leads the FBS with 18 rushing touchdowns this season. FAU

RECEIVERS: WR Jacquez Sloan leads WKU in receiving yards per game (55) and yards per catch (16). He’s questionable for this contest. West Virginia transfer Jovon Durante averages a team-best 77 receiving ypg for the Owls. FAU

OFFENSIVE LINE: WKU’s per-game rushing total is up this season from 60.85 last year to 123.9. The Owls average 246.2 per game on the ground. FAU left tackle Reggie Bain was named to the Pro Football Focus College Week All-Conference USA Week 10 Team for his play against FIU. FAU

DEFENSIVE LINE: Topper DEs Juwuan Jones and DeAngelo Malone have combined for 72 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and six sacks. Owls DE Tim Bonner started his career at Louisville and then became a star of the second season of Netflix series “Last Chance U.” He’s posted 19 tackles, four TFLs and a sack this season. WKU

LINEBACKERS: WKU LB Ben Holt ranks No. 3 among C-USA defenders with 9.78 tackles per game. He racked up 13 tackles at MTSU, one week after posting a career-high 19 vs. FIU. FAU lost Azeez Al-Shaair, the C-USA Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, last month to a season-ending injury. FAU

SECONDARY: The Hilltoppers have only grabbed five INTs this year but rank No. 2 across Conference USA with 43 pass breakups. DB Ta’Corian Darden has broken up nine passes. WKU

SPECIAL TEAMS: WKU’s Ryan Nuss and Alex Rinella are a combined 7-of-14 on field goal attempts this season. They’ve combined to have three kicks blocked and another nearly returned for a touchdown. FAU

Brad’s picks

Western Kentucky has only three chances left to avoid going winless in conference play for the first time since 2009. The Hilltoppers face a tall task Saturday at a Florida Atlantic team that’s been largely underwhelming this year but still boasts superior talent to WKU. Devin Singletary ran all over the Toppers last season. Keeping him in check is WKU’s only chance for an unexpected victory.
