Spartans’ Spurrier tosses 5 TD passes in win over Grayson

South Warren forced a running clock by halftime en route to a 41-7 win Friday over Class 5A, District 2 rival Grayson County in Leitchfield.
The Spartans led 41-0 at the break.
South Warren quarterback Gavin Spurrier was 8-of-10 passing for 127 yards and five touchdowns.
Clayton Bush had two receiving touchdowns and added another rushing score, Trent Rice had two touchdown catches and Tommi Mustapha had one receiving TD for the Spartans.
South Warren (5-0) hosts Rocky Mountain (Colo.) on Sept. 21.
Logan County 40,
McLean County 20
Logan County quarterback Tyler Ezell passed for two touchdowns and ran for two more as the visiting Cougars pulled away for a 40-20 win over McLean County on Friday.
Ezell connected with Maurice Gordon on a 52-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter and later found Dontavius Blann for 2-yard score to cap the game’s scoring in the fourth quarter.
In between those two TD passes, Ezell a 1-yard touchdown run in the second quarter and a 73-yard TD run in the third.
Ezell was 12 of 22 passing for 127 yards, and had 78 rushing yards.
Edmonson County 13,
Metcalfe County 6
Visiting Edmonson County scored a pair of fourth-quarter rushing touchdowns to rally past Metcalfe County for a 13-6 win Friday.
Matt Shaw’s 10-yard scoring run plus the extra point put the Wildcats up 7-6, and Jonathan Hollis gave Edmonson County (3-2) a bit of breathing room with a 4-yard touchdown run later in the fourth.
